Course Appetizer
Cuisine American
- 1 can cream of chicken soup, (undiluted)
- 3⁄4 cup Sour cream
- 1⁄4 Cup milk
- 1 cup Cubed cooked chicken
- 2 1⁄2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 1⁄2 cups Frozen hash browns, thawed
- 3 ounce Durkee onions
- 1 cup Crushed sour cream
- Onion potato chips
In a mixing bowl, combine the soup, sour cream, milk, chicken, and 1-1/4 cups of cheese.
Grease a baking dish and spread three-fourths of the mixture in the dish.
Sprinkle hash browns over the mixture and press lightly.
Spread the remaining soup mixture over the hash browns.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese and potato chips over the top.
Bake the dish in a preheated oven at 350°F for 1 hour or until bubbly.
Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle onions over the top.
Bake the dish for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the onions are lightly browned.
Let the dish stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
- Use a 9x13 inch baking dish for best results.
- Thaw the hash browns completely before using them in the recipe.
- If you don't have Durkee onions, you can use French fried onions instead.
- For a healthier option, you can use low-fat sour cream and reduced-fat cheddar cheese.
- If you want to add some extra flavor, you can season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder before adding it to the mixture.
- Let the dish cool for a few minutes before serving to avoid burning your mouth on the hot cheese and potatoes.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to three days, or frozen for up to two months.
- Just be sure to reheat thoroughly before serving.
