Course sauce
Cuisine American
- 1/2 cup Fresh Cilantro
- 1 ounce Fresh coarsely
- Chopped serrano peppers
- 1 teaspoon Garlic
- 1 cup Chopped onion
- 1/3 cup Fresh lime Juice
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 1/2 pounds Coarsely chopped Roma tomatoes
To begin, thoroughly wash the cilantro and serrano peppers and remove and discard any stems.
Proceed by finely dicing the cilantro, serrano pepper, garlic, and onion.
Place these ingredients into a food processor or blender along with lime juice, and pulse until they are finely chopped and well combined.
Next, add the tomatoes to the mixture and pulse again until everything is thoroughly blended.
You may add salt to taste and pulse one last time to ensure that all ingredients are evenly combined.
Finally, serve the salsa chilled with chips or as a topping for various Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, and enchiladas.
- Make sure to wash the cilantro and serrano peppers thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
- For a milder salsa, remove the seeds from the serrano peppers before dicing.
- When dicing the cilantro, serrano pepper, garlic, and onion, try to chop them as finely as possible for a smoother texture.
- Use fresh lime juice instead of bottled for the best flavor.
- If you prefer a chunkier salsa, pulse the ingredients fewer times in the food processor or blender.
- Adjust the amount of salt according to your taste preferences, but start with a small amount and add more gradually.
- For a sweeter salsa, consider adding a small amount of honey or sugar to balance out the acidity of the tomatoes and lime juice.
- Store any leftover salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
